HARRIS VS TRUMP 2024 PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

On September 10, 2024, Vice president Kamala Harris, and the former president, Donald Trump participated in a heated debate full of quick remarks and comebacks, highlighting the differences of policies and leadership styles. With some sharp remarks made from both sides.

Are you pro life or pro choice?

The right for a woman to have an abortion is a hot topic in the US right now, due to Kamala’s and Trump’s clashing over abortion policies. Trump approached the policy claiming that the democratic party support “execution after birth”. Painting them as radical murderers. Was this true? No, and it was quickly corrected by the moderator, Lindsey Davis. Harris committed to signing federal protections for reproductive rights for women all over the US. However, Trump claimed to neither support, or neglect women’s reproductive rights.

Are immigrants criminals?

Trumps views on immigrants has always been slight skewed, however within the presidential debate, he made several unverified claims of crimes, supposedly commited by immigrants. Including eating cats and dogs. Harris defends the socio political issues of inhumaine border control, claiming that it benefits citizens to accept immigrants into their country leading to effective policymaking.

Everything put aside, the debate was a great showcase of the differences between both candidates.

Harris directly addressed Trump’s unverified claims, contrasting his points with policy based arguments of her own. Through this presidential debate, we were able to see the future both presidential candidates envision for America. Kamala arguing for immigration reform, reproductive rights, global diplomacy and national security. However, Trumps vision for America 2024 includes Immigration control, adding tariffs on American exports to improve the American economy, social conservatism and re-assessing foreign policies, pulling support from Ukraine.
